This fall, some lucky pilgrims will walk the kora around the Boudhanath Stupa, while others will entrust their aspirations to the kora walkers. Yet, no matter where you are, you can always let your aspirations reach the sacred place that has been blessed for thousands of years.
Why the Boudhanath Stupa?
The Boudhanath Stupa in Nepal is one of the most important, sacred places in Tibetan Buddhism. For thousands of years, countless practitioners have traveled to the stupa and engaged in kora, making aspirations and gathering the accumulations of merit.
Taking this sacred journey together
Last year marked the successful completion of our first Wish-fulfilling Stupa Kora. This year, we warmly invite you to walk with us — for yourself, for those you love, and for the peace and wellness of all sentient beings. Let us take this step of compassion together; may every step become a sacred condition for fulfilling kind wishes and be a compassionate deed for the benefit of all beings.
Two ways to participate in the 2026 Boudhanath Kora
- Walk the kora If you are in Nepal, you are welcome to walk the kora with us. The first 200 registrants will receive a rainbow aspiration package, which will include a prayer card* blessed during the Guru Rinpoche Consecration Puja held in July at Karmapa Center 16, along with other supplies. While the number of accumulated kora is up to the individual, the ultimate goal is to complete 113 rounds of kora.
- Support the kora If you cannot join us in Nepal, sponsorship is a wonderful way to participate. The cost is about $2 USD per round. Each round offers a dedicated blessing for yourself, your family, and for the whole world. You also will receive a prayer card* blessed during the Guru Rinpoche Consecration Puja at Karmapa Center 16. If you sponsor all 113 rounds, you will receive 3 prayer cards. There is a limited number of cards available, so as a sponsor, you may only participate once.
You are also welcome to submit your prayers during registration. We will bring your name and your heart’s aspirations to the Wish-Fulfilling Stupa, dedicating every step of the kora on your behalf.
*There are a limited number of prayer cards, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Your Support Is Another Act of Virtue
Proceeds from this sponsorship will go towards the construction fund for Karmapa Center 16, located outside of Chicago in Zion, Illinois.
Upon completion of the event, Dilyak Monastery will light butter lamps and dedicate prayers to every participant.
